Read the following article www.Consumer.gov/articles/1002-making-budget. Make sure to read each section: What it is, What to know and What to do.
Take a look at how you spend the money you receive from your job, allowance or gifts. How much money do you get each month? How do you spend that money? Do you save any of the money you receive? Create your own monthly budget. Once you determine the monthly amounts multiply them by 12 (number of months in a year) to determine your yearly income & expenses.

Using your career research, complete a career plan using the following headings as guides.

· People or Organizations that Could Help Me
· Plan-of-Action
4. Post-secondary search
o Identify 5 post graduate institutions that will help you achieve your career goals. You may include colleges, universities, armed forces, trade schools, etc.
o What type of institution is it? Profit/nonprofit?
o What programs do they have that support your goals? Courses, internships, career placement…
o Where are they located?
o Do they offer grants or scholarships that you are eligible for? What do you need to do to apply?
o What do you need to do to register/enlist? Is there a registration fee?
o Do they have campus housing or will you commute?
5. Job search
o How should you search for a job?
o Identify at least 5 people, you already know, who can assist you in getting a job in your field.
o Define job board and job search engines. How are they alike? How are they different?
o Find a job board and a job search engine that will assist you in identifying jobs in your field. Find at least 5 jobs using the resources listed above; 1 from a contact, 2 from a job board and 2 from a job search.
6. Soft skills
What are soft skills and why are they important? Describe how you will use the 10 soft skills discussed in the article (see Resources) during your career?
